Very disappointed.  I'm addicted to the plain tart at Yogurt Harmony in Berkeley, and the "original" at this place doesn't even come close.  The texture is off (as someone else mentioned, it's sort of like shaved ice), and there is an unpleasant aftertaste.  Ambrosia on Trinity Place now offers a plain tart which is much better, so I'll be sticking with them whenever I need a FiDi FroYo Fix.

Not a huge fro-yo fan, but I still try to find a good place for it in FiDi.

I tried a sample of their original (which is usually a good indication as to the rest of the froyo flavors)...it was delightfully tart enough and slightly sweet aftertaste.  :)

I ended up taking a small strawberry...$3.50 for the small, which was actually a very generous portion.

They also have blueberry (which many people were ordering before me) and green tea.  Along with the extra toppings of $0.75 a pop.

Enjoy!

We were herded in to the Crocker Galleria during the lunch break for orientation to law school.  Some in my group just moved here so this was part of the "Neighborhood tour."  Our mission was to find lunch, which I begrudgingly did but right as we were exiting the Galleria, I spotted people carrying white cups of swirled-ness.  My heart beat increased and my pupils dilated a bit.  A quick sweep of the perimeter revealed the So Green Yogurt.  I had to return later.

The green tea tastes like the regular.  Well, maybe like the regular with something funny about it.  It confirmed my decision to order the regular.  Small, with no toppings.  I've recently found a market that sells the exact same mochi balls as used on yogurt and have contemplated bringing a small sack with me for when the yogurt impulse strikes.

Like Cyn said, the yogurt was rather icy and grainy.  It began to melt really really quickly.  The taste was not so tart as that in Berkeley.  But not sweet either.  Really, it was not much of anything.  Refreshing, but that opinion is colored by the type of freak good weather San Francisco had that day.

It was inexpensive, the small regular flavor was around $2.95 after tax.  The toppings would have been an extra $0.75 each (now does it make more sense to bring my own toppings, especially if the whole bag of mochi cost $3 for 300g?).  They had things like captain crunch, fresh fruit, granola.  Nothing made me go, "I MUST pay $0.75 for a teaspoon of it!  Paying rent can wait!."

That about sums it up.

Eh. They were skimpy on toppings, yogurt was rather thin- it had some tang, but it muted out after awhile. The regular was grainy too. It was kind of like eating yogurt flavored shaved ice. Fresh toppings were great. But not as much as other places.

YUM!  I've found this is the best froyo place in SF that I've tried so far.  Most like Pinkberry.  I've tried Yogurt bar, this other place on Market, this place in Japantown, and this other place in Berkeley.

I always get the original flavor.  Never liked other flavors in general.  Tart & refreshing.  I love it!  I can say I'm addicted now.

I decided it was only fair to write an updated review since SoGreen seemed to get the point and started to be more generous with their yogurt. They've stopped weighing the amount of yogurt they put in each serving and I now find that they actually give a very generous amount even for the small size yogurt. This fro-yo lover is satisfied! Though, I don't know if they've started giving more fruit toppings, since they gave so little the first time I was there that I've never ordered fruit toppings since. I stick with my Small Original Yogurt with Mochi and I am lovin it. Out of all the yogurts I've tried in the city, I have to say that SoGreen is my favorite because it's amazingly tart, just the way I like it.

I decided to leave the confines of my cubicle and check out the farmer's market at Crocker Galleria. Pretty decent farmer's market, by the way.

As I was looking at the produce, I ran into SoGreen. I had never had Pinkberry before or any of these new-fangled "tangy-sour" frozen yogurts. I've actually tried to avoid this new trend. I don't know why. Just to be "anti" I guess.

But standing in front of SoGreen, I thought to myself: I should stop being so old, so anti-technology and anti-anything new! I should start texting and Twittering and FaceBooking and eating cupcakes and downloading apps onto my non-existent iPhone. I should cut loose and get a cordless phone for our house and a microwave. And I should start this new, improved, embracing-the-future me by... consuming a Pinkberry imitation.

I ordered the strawberry with mochi balls. It was tangy and mochi-y. The serving itself was quite large for me, even though it was a small. I couldn't finish it all.

The service was friendly. The guy was going to give me a free sample, but I had already ordered my order. The interior is very futuristic. I felt like I was in the 20th century vision of what the 21st century would look like, if that makes any sense.

Overall: 3.5 stars

Oh and I started Twittering. I have the most boring Twitter ever. All my entries say "I am at work"...

This fro-yo craze is bringing me back to living in Iowa with the TCBY Treats sensation. Stop me-somebody!

I think each Fro-Yo place is trying to be trendier, posh, upscale and soon it shall all burst like a sonic boom when the novelty is over.

The place is decently dressed down, the music non-existent ('cause sometimes you don't need J-Pop in the background to enjoy dessert) and listings on the LCD screen a nice touch. I like how the owner? manager? explains the concept and recommends toppings for the fro-yo virgins like myself.

I had the usual toppings I put on everything-blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Sigh...so nice.

They have someone helping behind the counter working with a cast and while I couldn't help to imagine what it'd be like to work with just an index and middle finger, there he goes cutting bananas up and spooning toppings like a pro. Very impressed.

Fro-yo quality? Pretty good despite what the critics say. It DOES taste like tart frozen yogurt. I'm not touching smoothies yet even though they do offer it 'cause I like the spooning feeling-tee hee.

Something like $5.75 for a small with three flavors or you could get a medium for the same price. They get you to upgrade by having a set price for medium and large cups. I shall not fall for that and pay that premium to keep it small with loaded toppings.

It's a shame it's located in a mall that closes so early-hardly anything to look at that without envisioning your grandmother's closet or feel the need to pluck, tweeze, suck or laser something off as a lot of stores here offer those "services." Ick.

News flash -- Crystal meth? So 1990s. Cocaine? So yesterday. The kids of today are falling prey to a new drug of choice -- fro-yo, otherwise known as frozen yogurt. Signs of addiction include mid-day salivation and withdrawal anxiety. Is someone you know suffering from a fro-yo addiction? Call 1-800-FRO-YO-NO.

Hmmmm.... I didn't think it possible, but I think I've finally met a fro-yo I'm not freakishly fond of. If Icebee and yo Cup are tangy, I would say that SoGreen is tart. This ain't no TCBY people. I don't know about you, but I don't think I want to taste the probiotics. Now I don't know exaaaaactly what they taste like, but I'm pretty sure they taste like SoGreen's yogurt.

I ordered the medium green tea with three toppings at SoGreen and the total came to about $7. That's quite a hefty price for an afternoon snack, no?

If I were ever to wean myself off of frozen yogurt, I'd start going to SoGreen.

Is this a frozen yogurt place or a hip L.A. dance club? I had to suppress the urge to shake my booty as I ordered my small plain fro-yo with blueberries and almonds. The hard workin' SoGreen employees really didn't need to see that.

BTW, I'm so hopped up on this tart fro-yo craze that any place will get at least three stars. I'm like a junkie for probiotic yogurt. I suppose that's better than heroin.

Usually, when I'm craving a sweet treat, I head straight over to the nearest cupcake-ery and gorge myself on "my usual"  frosted fat and calories in a paper lining.   Mmmm...fat and calories.

Walking downtown, however, I saw a line in a new store that sold something I haven't had in a long time.  Fro-Yo.

Yes, I said Fro-Yo.  Remember the 80's?  TCBY was like Starbucks, popping up on every street corner and in every mall.  (If you are a fetus and do not remember the 80's, I don't want to know about it.)

Some two decades later, Fro-Yo has made a comeback...with a vengeance.  They're EVERYWHERE, and they're revamped.  "Gourmet" and "artisanal" come to mind when I see these new-fangled places.  Also, add "expensive as all get out" to that list.

I resisted going in, but I couldn't help myself.  My issues with milk usually made it easy to walk away, but watching the hoards of desperate FiDi women scraping together their money for a taste made me more than curious.  So gastrointestinal issues be damned, I caved.

I paid $6.25 for a medium strawberry yogurt that comes with three toppings.  Yikes.

But I must admit, it was really delicious.  Mochi balls, mandarin oranges, lychee, and a huge helping of 192 calories and zero fat.  I felt like I was eating a healthy snack for the first time in months.

Ok, it wasn't a carrot.  But at least it wasn't my usual.

Be still my heart, the pining for pinkberry can officially end! Not only is SoGreen a wonderful fill in for the notable pinkberry treat but it is in some ways better. The portions are more generous, no weighing the fro-yo here, and the atmosphere is very clean, just like the flavors! There are not crazy options such as fruity pebbles and cap'n crunch but SoGreen offers a more streamlined, healthier, fresher approach to toppings with nuts, fruits and chocolate chips. The price is appropriate for the portions and it is a definite keeper in the list of favorites.

$4.25 for a small - half plain, half strawberry with pistachio nut topping. Small is 5 oz, and it was a decent portion of yogurt. But, a bit stingy on the toppings. It was more on the "icy" side of frozen yogurt as compared to the "creamy/milky" variety. Quite tasty at first, but I was super nauseous about 15 minutes after eating it. The web site has calories and nutritional info, but I don't know what the actual ingredients are. So, 3 stars for now, and I'll try again and if I feel okay, I'll make an adjustment. I suspect it has a lot more sugar in it than they say and/or some other ingredient that contributed to my stomach ache. Hopefully it was just a fluke, because it was tasty.

This is the best Pinkberry knock off that I've found in SF.  Everytime I order this type of (tart) yogurt, I always get original with carob or chocolate chips.  Therefore, I only compare the quality of the original flavor across establishments, and  so I cannot speak for those who value the diversity and quality of flavors and toppings.  This review is probably useless for 90% of you out there.  My apologies.

The yogurt here is a bit expensive, but it's worth it as a treat.  They have freshly cut strawberries, kiwi, berries, etc. that you can add onto your yogurt.  This stuff is the best, especially on a warm, sunny day.

It's one of those places, like Pinkberry, that you have to try just to see why there's a line out the door.
I had just a couple of bucks and some change on me, so I was not able to afford the strawberry! But I had the original flavor and it hit the spot.
Since their web site says it has around 125 calories for a small serving, that is good news. I would go back.

This place is just okay.  It is THE MOST EXPENSIVE out of all the frozen yogurt stores of its kind in the city.  Tuttimelon is the cheapest, I think, but it sucks and tastes really bad, so no thank you.  I really wanted to like Sogreen because I was spending so much money, but probably because I was spending nearly $7 on a medium with three toppings, I didn't enjoy it as much.  Their flavored yogurts are $1 more, I believe, so that came to me as a bit of a surprise.  And they don't put that many toppings on your frozen yogurt.  I felt kind of jipped.

I'd rather go to Icebee or Yocup which are just down the street.  If you go to Icebee, you can determine your own pricing, since it's self serve.  If you go to Yocup, they give you more than enough toppings and their yogurt peak comes up way higher than the cup.  Plus, the workers are nicer there.

Since there are all these other yogurt places opening up so close, there's no need for me to go to Sogreen and overspend for just average frozen yogurt.

The "new" frozen yogurt and I have a similar history as I do with capris, peep-toe shoes, the iPod, the iMac, Crocs, designer jeans, routine mani-pedis, good wine... etc. With many of these things, I resisted for a long time because I (erroneously) believed them to be too expensive and not worth it. With some of these things, I thought they were a fad and would go away. With the "new" frozen yogurt, I thought it was BOTH too expensive and would eventually go away. I was wrong on both counts.

I tried it once and to my dismay LOVED IT. So tangy! So tart! Now I spend several work days a week counting down the seconds until I can go get my deliciously tangy green tea yogurt with chocolate chips. I usually won't go before 3 p.m., hoping that the craving will go away. And it never does. Instead, I just want it MORE MORE MORE.

P.S. I refer to this as the "new" frozen yogurt, because I do remember the day when the TCBY came to my nearby mall in New Jersey, and I used to order vanilla with carob chips and strawberries. It was fine, for then, for a teenager in New Jersey, but that's the two-buck chuck of yogurt.

It's another Pinkberry....
Flavors come in regular tart, green tea or strawberry....
Your choice of fresh fruit toppings, candy or cookie...S,M,L...

I ordered strawberry with strawberry toppings. The frozen yogurt tasted like frozen strawberry yoplait to me, eh. It was refreshing to have on a warm afternoon but I wouldn't go for that flavor again. Maybe green tea flavor next time.

I think there's an inherent need in many of us, to quench our sugar cravings, but feel like we're being responsible about it at the same time.

Which is why tart tasting froyo has been erupting everywhere.Though very few nutritional information seems to be circulating about just how good it is for us, we're all over it. People can't get enough of it.  It seems to taste healthy, and buzz words like lowfat, cold, and fresh - have propelled it into our daily lives. It's just the beginning in SF for the Fro Yo wars.

Anyways, healthy or not, I probably gobble two to three cups of froyos a week, and being that Icebee is so close, they're pretty much my standby froyo fix.

Trying to branch out, I decided to finally try SoGreen.

I enjoyed my frozen yogurt at SoGreen, but I don't think I'll be in too much of a hurry to return. For a medium original flavored frozen yogurt with three toppings - it ended up costing a little more than 7 dollars. That's the cost of an entree and a drink at Lime Tree.

Not only was price an issue, but they carry fewer toppings than Icebee, and it's not self serve (which I prefer)

SoGreen is a nice stop if you're in the area. I recommend sticking to the small size, and trying their fresh fruit options like lychee and raspberries. But if you're looking to customize your yogurt and enjoy being in control of portions, toppings, and price - stick to Icebee.

Coming from So. Cal I was craving Pinkberry and decided to try this place out with a coworker one afternoon.  We walked into this futuristic, trendy place with the loud house music and stood in line. My coworker took a picture with her iphone and like a hawk the server behind the counter yelled extreemely rudely at her that 'you can't take pictures in here!'  When she looked at him like 'are you kidding me?' he just kept repeating what he said, like he'd said it a million times before.

They may have good frozen yogurt, but that is no excuse to be completely rude. The service sucks, and it's expensive and they short you on the toppings... I am never going back there.  Go across the street to Ambrosia instead. MUCH better across the board in food and service quality!

Once a week,  I like to cart my ass over to Crocker G for the farmer's market.  On one such occasion, I noticed a new yogurt place with a line out the day. Since it was lunch time, I got in line ordered me a cup of the plain with some fruit...

Dang, that was some good yogurt.

Some might call it expensive, but these are generally the same people who buy a $4 latte so it is really about choice.  And as my mom would say, it is really only expensive if you can't afford it.  That being said, I am guessing people who buy yogurt have no idea how much milk cost.

Great addition to the Galleria!  I've tried their product a couple of times and it's just good!  Not at all like those yogurt shops that sell way too sweet frozen confections masquerading as Fro-Yo.  This stuff is good and has the natural tartness one expects from yogurt.  And then someone told me this stuff is healthy...Amazing!  Friendly people too!  Worth a visit!

Next time you're having a private event for the "well-off" businesspeople, make the sign big enough for the public to see and CLOSE your freaking doors.

How utterly rude; I walked into SoGreen Yogurt earlier this week hoping to try it out, only to be turned away at the counter because they were having a private event for some companies across the street. Well gee, you could have fooled me with your WIDE OPEN doors welcoming in anyone and everyone. The guy at the service counter was all willing to serve me until he realized I didn't have a "special" ticket...then he turned me away, saying "Oh, we can't serve you. Come back...tomorrow?"

No thanks. Never going back.

I'm addicted to the green tea. I'm approaching my fourth day in a row. I need help.

But the staff is really friendly. And the yogurt is tasty. (If you like tarty froyo.)

Minus one star because it costs me $4.25. And.. technically, I could buy a Guinness at El Rio for cheaper.

I love this stuff.  Love it.  I like tart so it's all good and coupled with my favorite topping, lychees, I'm really good to go.  It's not your typical froyo, it's much more.  It's real food without all the added sugars and preservatives, so it doesn't taste like the froyo we're more used to.  That's okay with me, I grew up eating Greek-like yogurt with no sweetners of any kind, that's the way  I like it.  So this is all good to me.

If you're expecting ice cream like froyo go to Ambrosia on Trinity Street within shouting distance of Crocker Galleria and So Green.  The husband and wife team have been there for years and they know how to serve a soft serve.

The good:
- The toppings are fresh and healthy

The bad:
- It's expensive
- The toppings were scarce
- The unce unce unce house music was annoying, I felt like I was at 1015 Folsom (I know I'm dating myself with that one)

The notable:
- It's really frozen yogurt and I realize how retarded that sounds, but it tastes like yogurt

It's trendy...will it last?

This place magically transforms FiDi Corporate Drones (like myself) into little kids again! We walk into this brightly painted store with the stress of the adult work world plastered on our half-cracked smiles, weighted down on the bags under our eyes, and layered on the misunderstood wrinkles on our foreheads.

As we step up to the cash register, the happy clerks ask us to pick a flavor--plain, strawberry, or green tea. We even get to select from a variety of toppings! We take a bite of the delicious concoction of frozen goodness we had just created, and suddenly, just for a "San Francisco minute",  we become kids and all the stress of pending deadlines, 2 o'clock meetings, and piles of paperwork seem to melt away with each "mmmmm" and each "yum"...until it's all gone and the cup is empty...

...then we become adults again and drag our feet back to the office...

$3.95 is not much to pay if it takes away your stress and makes you a kid again...even if it's for just a mere "San Francisco minute".

Sad. Sad! Those of us who were frozen yogurt fans pre-Pinkberry remember a time when frozen yogurt came in more than 3 flavors...when fresh toppings meant the paper was just unwrapped off the candy bar...when a small cost under five dollars!!

I guess it's good yogurt. For me to...oh, you know.

I was SoGreen with excitement when I discovered a yogurt place in downtown. Yes, I've jumped on the yogurt ban wagon and I have been obsessed ever since Pinkberry's plum Amex commercial.

SoGreen turned out to be So disappointing. I paid double than I usually pay for at Jubilee and Tutti Melon and got half the amount         ( there was actually a hallow hole in the middle of my cup!!!! Seriously!? )  The mochi was perfect but the blackberries was spoiled and rancid. I ended up picking it out of my cup which was strange because you usually do that to ingredients like blue cheese or mushrooms where you had no control of the ingredients. BUT wait!! I single handedly CHOSE the Blackberries!!!! Why was I picking them out??

I'm not one to rely much on first impressions so I'm going to give it another shot. Like most " first time" they tend to be just... okay.

Sometimes things are inexplicably & wildly popular while they seem to be only good and not great. Vampire Weekend comes to mind. By the time I went up to the front to get a look at their toppings a line had already formed out the door. The thought of people queuing up to pay 6 dollars so some broseph can count out 6 raspberries to add to your tarty fro yo is beyond ridiculous. When i asked if he could add more raspberrries, he said sorry, we're only supposed to put 5 on there anyways. Wow.
in the words of FBI Agent Johnny Utah when Bodhi heads into the Australian surf during the hundred year storm "He's not coming back!"
ps. I love Point Break

This is the perfect spot for a little late afternoon work day pick-me-up refresher. You need to try the regular yogurt with mochi. OMG! SOOO GOOD! This place is better than pinkberry because it's not???

SoGreen?  SoAwesome!  This place rocks.  It has the best prices of all of the FroYo places around, and their Natural flavor is the best I've tasted yet.  I was there around closing yesterday, and since they were wrapping up for the night, they offered my friend and I free tastings of any of the yogurt we wanted.  We both thanked them but explained that the Natural was our favorite, so they brought over 2 more for us to enjoy - on the house!  So when other reviewers say they are 'stingy', I have to disagree.  Pinkberry - you can stay in SoCal all you want.  I no longer miss your creamy decadance - I've found my Yogurt haven.
